Class change, Fall Festival, Competition Dates
Since Fall Break (UEA weekend) falls on a Thursday, I am moving all Thursday, October 15th classes to Tuesday, October 13th. I understand some of you already have schedules for other activities on Tuesday but I want to make sure we have enough practices before the fall festival which is the week after. Class times will remain the same-just on a different day for that week. Please make note on your calendars.
I talked to Snowcrest Junior High today. The Fall Festival is set for Friday, October 23rd, 2015 from 6-9pm. I am assuming our kids will be performing around 7pm in the gym, but it is not set in stone. There will be food and activities but you must purchase tickets/bands at the door to participate in those since this is a fundraiser. I have thought about purchasing everyone a DancElation T-shirt that they could wear with black leggings/shorts/or leotard. I am guessing the cost will be around $10 each. That way they would have a dance shirt they could wear all year long, but it would also make it look more uniform when they are performing. Hair and make-up would just finish off the look. Preschoolers will need a witch hat. Warning:the hat will fall off while kids are performing so I am suggesting to put ribbon ties or elastic on the hat to help it stay on. Everyone else would just have to have messy/ratted hair, and zombie/ghost like make-up. It could be as simple as darkening around the eyes.
It is already that time of year to start marking calendars for competition dates. DancExcel, DancElite, DancElect will all be performing at:
Utah Dance Fest
FLOOR COMPETITION
APRIL 15-16, 2016
USU Dee Glen Smith Spectrum
Logan, Utah
Competition Fees are $15 per dancer per dance. Each class will be doing 2-3 dances each so plan accordingly. It will be between $30-$45 each. Solos $70, Duets/Trios $50-plan accordingly. Costume Fees will range between $30-$100 per costume..hopefully more towards the latter-plan ahead accordingly. I TRY!!! my best to find the best deals to save parents money but can't always guarantee it. We will be ordering shoes for competition soon too that they will need to practice in class with. If some comp girls have shoes from last year that are in good condition but too small-let me know and I will post it at the studio for those who want a buy used shoes for a better deal.
DancElite, DancElect groups will also be performing in the Aspire Dance Pro Competition. The problem is the WSU comp is at the end of our Spring Break week. Let me know if that is a problem for those participating, otherwise, there are other Aspire Dance competitions in Utah in May but I don't know if they are set up stage/floor comp like the WSU comp which we thoroughly enjoyed last year. The fees for this competition will be slightly more but comparable, plan accordingly.
