PRESCHOOL CLASS-3-4 yr old will be taught Wednesday or Thursday afternoon if I have enough interest.
Level I 4-6 yr old Tap and Ballet
I wanted to focus on two important styles of dance for this new age group. First Tap works on rhythm, finding the beat in music, patterns, balance, coordination, basic dance movement, and stage presence. Ballet technique is the foundation for any kind of dance. It teaches basic dance technique/terms, gracefulness, poise, posture, confidence, strengthening and lengthening all body muscles, eye/hand coordination, and muscle memory. Dress attire recommended: Leotard and Tights pink or tan ballet shoes and basic black tap shoes. I HAVE QUITE A FEW TAP SHOES I WILL SELL FOR $4 a pair. I will buy them back from you when your child grows out of them for $2 a pair-OR you can do a direct trade if I have a size that fits and you want to switch what you have. That way we have a steady flow of shoes available for a decent price. First come first serve for tap shoes. I will try to put a list together of the sizes I have.
Level II 7-9 yr old Tap/Ballet/Jazz
This class we add on to basic Tap and Ballet Technique. Rhythms become more syncopated and movement becomes more transitional and fluid and intertwined with different genres of dance- like jazz. We work more on flexibility and strengthening the core. Basic across the floor movements are put into simple combinations across the floor. Dress attire recommended: Leotard and Tights or other form fitting attire that they can easily move in. NO JEANS OR BAGGY T SHIRTS. A ballet shoe or tan jazz shoe and black tap shoes. I have a few tap shoes that are available for purchase @ $4 a pair. I will buy shoes back when your child grows out for $2 a pair or do a direct trade for free.
Level III 10-12 yr old Lyrical/Jazz
A continued progression from Level II. Focus on footwork, flexibility, and technique. Tap is not taught in this class since this is the first year I am specifically doing tap. Dress attire recommended: Leotard and Tights or other form fitting attire that they can easily move in. NO JEANS OR BAGGY T SHIRTS.
Comp class 6-9 yr old
This class is a Competition class. We will be competing at small competitions like Lagoon etc. I am not well informed about competitions-I hope to be more informed as the year goes by :) This is a class for students who are serious about dance in working hard at CLASS and at HOME in improving technique, flexibility, and stage presence. Who can take constructive criticism, not whine and complain when told to repeat things over and over :) and willing to step out of their comfort zone to PERFORM! They must be committed to attending class regularly. We will work hard on strengthening and lengthening all muscles especially the Core. We will work on proper technique increase flexibility Dress Attire: Leotard and tights or dance shorts, etc. NO JEANS OR BAGGY T SHIRTS. A tan Jazz shoe is required for this class. I will send in an order once class is established-so until then barefoot is acceptable:) This class will be having an open try out Wednesday, August 28th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
