Level 1 Fall Festival Performance-Monster Mash
Fall Festival performance
We have been asked to participate in Snowcrest JH annual Fall Festival fundraiser. It will be held Thursday October 24th and our kids will be performing some time between 6:30pm-7:30pm. I will be linking videos on to the blog for the kids to practice during the week for their performance. REMINDER: Thursday classes usually held on the 17th and 24th will be Tuesday classes on the 15th and 22nd because of Fall Break and the Fall festival. SAME TIMES and WEDNESDAYS CLASSES DO NOT CHANGE. I will set a time, preferrably around 5pm or 5:30pm for the 24th so that we can practice in the junior high where we will be performing. So come ready with costume etc to practice. The Fall festival will be open for all @ 6pm so I want to get the practice before everyone else starts arriving. It will be a good practice since we have multiple classes performing together and getting the floor layout is important. Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful fall weather. Thanks for your support!

PRESCHOOL CLASS-3-4 yr old will be taught Wednesday or Thursday afternoon if I have enough interest.
Level I 4-6 yr old Tap and Ballet
I wanted to focus on two important styles of dance for this new age group. First Tap works on rhythm, finding the beat in music, patterns, balance, coordination, basic dance movement, and stage presence. Ballet technique is the foundation for any kind of dance. It teaches basic dance technique/terms, gracefulness, poise, posture, confidence, strengthening and lengthening all body muscles, eye/hand coordination, and muscle memory. Dress attire recommended: Leotard and Tights pink or tan ballet shoes and basic black tap shoes. I HAVE QUITE A FEW TAP SHOES I WILL SELL FOR $4 a pair. I will buy them back from you when your child grows out of them for $2 a pair-OR you can do a direct trade if I have a size that fits and you want to switch what you have. That way we have a steady flow of shoes available for a decent price. First come first serve for tap shoes. I will try to put a list together of the sizes I have.
Level II 7-9 yr old Tap/Ballet/Jazz
This class we add on to basic Tap and Ballet Technique. Rhythms become more syncopated and movement becomes more transitional and fluid and intertwined with different genres of dance- like jazz. We work more on flexibility and strengthening the core. Basic across the floor movements are put into simple combinations across the floor. Dress attire recommended: Leotard and Tights or other form fitting attire that they can easily move in. NO JEANS OR BAGGY T SHIRTS. A ballet shoe or tan jazz shoe and black tap shoes. I have a few tap shoes that are available for purchase @ $4 a pair. I will buy shoes back when your child grows out for $2 a pair or do a direct trade for free.
Level III 10-12 yr old Lyrical/Jazz
A continued progression from Level II. Focus on footwork, flexibility, and technique. Tap is not taught in this class since this is the first year I am specifically doing tap. Dress attire recommended: Leotard and Tights or other form fitting attire that they can easily move in. NO JEANS OR BAGGY T SHIRTS.
Comp class 6-9 yr old
This class is a Competition class. We will be competing at small competitions like Lagoon etc. I am not well informed about competitions-I hope to be more informed as the year goes by :) This is a class for students who are serious about dance in working hard at CLASS and at HOME in improving technique, flexibility, and stage presence. Who can take constructive criticism, not whine and complain when told to repeat things over and over :) and willing to step out of their comfort zone to PERFORM! They must be committed to attending class regularly. We will work hard on strengthening and lengthening all muscles especially the Core. We will work on proper technique increase flexibility Dress Attire: Leotard and tights or dance shorts, etc. NO JEANS OR BAGGY T SHIRTS. A tan Jazz shoe is required for this class. I will send in an order once class is established-so until then barefoot is acceptable:) This class will be having an open try out Wednesday, August 28th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. I will be evaluating individual technique on leaps, pirouettes, chaines, splits, leg lifts, back rolls, Battements, knowledge of basic dance terms (plie, passe, tendu, derriere, en face, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th positions, developpe, rond de jambe, chasse, retire, releve, and battements) Google things you are not familiar with. Those that may not have a limited dance background-I will evaluate on potential, perseverance, and positivity.

Dance Classes 2013-14
Dance will be starting the beginning of September. I will not be teaching in my basement this year. It will only affect a few people negatively-but for the majority it should be a positive change. Classses will now be held on the 2nd floor of the old High Altitude building in Eden behind the Junior High/Car wash. Of course, because I now have rent "bills to pay" there will be an increase in tuition and a monthly payment deadline. I am hopefully still keeping things affordable for everyone compared to other studios. I am ALL willing to work with those that need a little financial slack. The added income is very beneficial to our family-BUT it is not the sole purpose for me teaching dance. I think every child should have the opportunity to dance if they want to. Don't hesitate to talk with me about it if that is a concern. I, more than anyone, am most grateful for a dance teacher that did the same for me.
Registration Fee is $30- Non-Refundable. $20 of that is a Pre-payment for Costumes, so that I can start ordering things in advance. The $20 will be deducted from the total costume amount at the end of the dance year. Recital will either be end of April or end of May. The school is not letting anyone use their gym in May any more because of conflicts with all the other year end school events that are
happening-so unless I find another venue for the Recital-it will be the end of April.
Hour long classes will be $30 per month. You can take additional classes for an additional $20( $10 off) The two hour Comp class and Level 4 class will be $50 per month. I will make additional classes if there is enough interest and works for my family schedule. There are reasons I am doing the classes the way I am doing them-Hopefully you can find something that will work for your child. I am willing to advance a child out of their age group if they are more advanced and not picky about having peers in their class. There is a little more option to do more than one hour of dance per week-Example-I can sign up my 7 yr old for Level 2 on Wed and Hip Hop Beg on Thurs. Or I could sign up my 9 yr old for Comp on Wed and because she is more experienced, Hip Hop Int on Thursdays. Hope this makes sense :) I have had interest in an adult(Mommy's Class) Class for those who have always wanted to dance but never had the opportunity or those who want to put their already dance skills into action. I may do a class if I have enough interest and it would be done either Wed or Thurs afternoon.
Wednesday classes
1:45-2:45-Level 1 (4-6yr old) Tap and Ballet
2:45-3:45-Level 2 (7-9yr old) Tap and Ballet/Jazz
3:45-4:45-Level 3 (10-12yr old) Jazz and Lyrical
4:45-6:45-Competition(6-9yr old -tryout only)
Thursday classes
3:45-4:45-Hip Hop Beginning (6-9 yr old)
4:45-5:45-Hip Hop Intermediate(10 and older)
5:45-6:45-Level 4 (12 and older) (Hip Hop Intermediate is considered the first part of Level 4 class-those that are only in hip hop will be done and then the remainder of students stay for second half of class)
I will have a registration date set for some time within the next week or two- and for those interested in Comp class a "tryout" date. I will upload a new post for those who are interested in the Comp class of things they should be practicing beforehand. I will leave a more detailed account on the classes through the blog. You will ,in a way, be "pre-registering" your child for those classes when you leave a comment with your child's basic info for each class. I will post those hopefully by tomorrow.
